Meet Bill Goebel

Bill Goebel

Bill Goebel is an experienced and dedicated leader with a strong commitment to education and community service. As a School Board Member representing District 3 in Guilford County, North Carolina, he has been serving since April 2023. In this role, Bill actively contributes to shaping policies and decisions that positively impact the district, one of the largest in North Carolina.

Bill also serves as an Advisor to the Chief Justice Newby’s Task Force on ACEs-Informed Courts in North Carolina, since January 2023. His expertise and guidance contribute to the development of strategies and approaches to create trauma-informed courts that better serve individuals affected by adverse childhood experiences.

Bill's commitment to child advocacy is further demonstrated through his role as a Member of the Board of Directors of Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina since October 2022. He actively works towards promoting child welfare and ensuring the well-being of young individuals in the community.

Bill holds valuable experience in finance and business. He currently serves as the Area President of FocusCFO NC, a CFO services provider for small and medium-sized businesses since August 2020. His financial acumen and leadership contribute to the success and growth of these companies.

Bill has been actively engaged in scouting for over 40 years, previously serving in various leadership roles within the BSA Old North State Council. His contributions have included chairing the council's 100th Anniversary Committee and developing marketing strategies to promote scouting through local media. He is also an Eagle Scout.

In addition to his community service, Bill is an active member of Westover Church in Greensboro. He has served as a Sunday school teacher for middle and high school students, a youth group leader, and a coordinator of the annual high school mission trip. Through these roles, he has positively impacted the spiritual and personal growth of young individuals.

Bill's commitment to community extends to his involvement in organizations such as Friend's House Ministry,  Emmanuel Senior Enrichment Center, Small Business & Technology Development Center (part of the SBA) and his efforts in fundraising for Caldwell Academy and Triad Business Bank.

Bill pursued his education at Cleveland State University, Roosevelt University, and Harvard University. He holds a deep appreciation for learning and values the transformative power of education.

Above all, Bill is a devoted family man. He is the proud husband of Dori Goebel and the loving father of Will, Jessa, and Elisa Kay. His personal experiences as a parent further fuel his passion for creating exceptional educational opportunities for every child.

With his extensive qualifications, community engagement, and dedication to education, Bill Goebel is poised to make a significant impact on the Guilford County Board of Education and the lives of students in the district.
